Micah 6: 6 – 8
King JamesV Micah 6:6 Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?
6:7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
6:8 He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
New English: Micah 6:6 With what am I to come before the Lord and go with bent head before the high God? Am I to come before him with burned offerings, with young oxen a year old?
Mic 6:7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of sheep or with ten thousand rivers of oil? Am I to give my first child for my wrongdoing, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
Mic 6:8 He has made clear to you, O man, what is good; and what is desired from you by the Lord; only doing what is right, and loving mercy, and walking without pride before your God.
What does the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, what does God expect from us toward other people?
Justly: means Mishpat (Mish – pawt) and it is a Hebrew word. It comes from the word Shaphat (Shawfat) meaning to pronounce a sentence, give punishment, avenge.
But the sentence God gives His people every time is Mercy, He forgive us and shows Mercy toward us if we will ask His forgiveness for our sins, He is a Merciful God no matter how many times we come to Him and ask forgiveness for our sin. (1John 1:9)
Mishpat means to judge favourably with Mercy every time, for this is a divine law. Never ending forgiveness, each day. He instructs us to forgive one another 70x7; His Mercies are new every day.
The form of punishment in verse 6:8 is the punishment of mercy, Chesed (kheh-sed) kindness, forgiving, pity, beauty, favour, merciful.
Satan says: “He deserving of death!” with his thumbs down. God says: “Mercy, I pronounce mercy, that’s his sentence, mercy!” With His thumbs up, He says: “Yes, he has asked Me to forgive him, cried out in repentance unto Me – I give him mercy.”
This is the mercy that God shows to us, and it is the mercy He expects us to give to every one else.
Jeremiah 33:11 The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.
